Why ACN is afraid of PDP –Publicity Secretary

Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) has said that it has  received information of plans by the Ekiti State Action Congress of Nigeria(ACN) to embark on campaign of calumny to smear the image of some of its governorship aspirants and also to lure unwilling youths with money to humiliate PDP leaders.

Speaking with journalists in Ado Ekiti on Saturday, the State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Pastor Kola Oluwawole said the ACN which felt it had failed by undemocratic methods it had used to curtail the growing popularity of the PDP and acceptance of its aspirants by the Ekiti people have decided to embark on a campaign of calumny in the belief that Ekiti people would turn against the PDP. Oluwawole said the PDP has alerted the police of underground plans to further disrupt the lawful activities of the party, stressing that  the ACN has forgotten that Ekiti people could never  humiliate their benefactors.

“Afterall, what did the youths benefit from Fayemi’s administration,” he asked. He said in the last two weeks, some ACN thugs coordinated by a security aide of the governor had launched a violent attack on PDP members at their rallies in Oye, Ikere,Efon and Ilawe wounding them in the process. He also stated that a  staunch ACN member led some thugs to ambush the convoy of Mr Ayo Fayose but the former governor was  not in the car and his driver was  severely beaten. Oluwawole added that ACN was disturbed because the violent activities of its members  had only encouraged the PDP to forge ahead in its resolve to dislodge ACN from power in the state in 2014 , wondering “

Why is the ACN jittery, why are the leaders panicking? Is it not them who said Ayo Fayose is not a popular politician because he lost the senatorial election to what many observers believed to be fraud.?” “I want the ACN to know that it has less than two years to spend in the Government House because Ekiti people have rejected the ACN -controlled government because they have realized that it is a mistake for allowing it to  come into being” The PDP therefore appealed to Ekiti people to ignore the government, urging them to continue to demonstrate their support for the PDP which soon would liberate them from the grip of despots.
